Life's pathway has many turns. In the great
journey of life, we meet many people. Some of these people influence our lives, a precious
few have a profound influence. In early 1996 I was to meet a man who was to have a
profound influence on me. I used to fancy myself as a bit of a modern day Henry Lawson,
but since meeting RR (Robert Raftery), Australia's PictureWriter, I have become poetically
"inert". I invited Robert to write two lead pieces for the Atlanta Olympics,
"We're Goin' for Gold" and "Keepers of the Flame". Robert also wrote
"Kids Alive, Do the Five" for the toddler drowning awareness programme I
conducted for the Queensland Health Department. Thanks, PictureWriter, for making my
life richer and giving me material to perform that is top shelf. |
